Common abreviations for recipes

T = Tablespoon
t = teaspoon
c = cup
opt = optional*

* Salt can be treated as optional for many dishes, even without this, but for baking, salt can play an important role in making pastries and doughs rise, so cut the salt by no more than half to reduce sodium. Virtually all of the recipes I post will already have the salt reduced from original recipes.

* American recipes are typically sweeter than their European counterparts so if you are watching the sugar intake, it can often be safely reduced by as much as a third before other ingredients also need to be adjusted for texture and other impacts on the dish.
